Classic Southern Chicken Fried Steak (USA)
Ingredients:
4 cube steaks
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon black pepper
¾ teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 egg
1 tablespoon hot sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
Pound the cube steaks to about ¼-inch thickness.
In a shallow bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and pepper.
In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, hot sauce, and garlic.
Dredge steaks in the flour mixture, then dip in the buttermilk mixture, and coat again in flour.
Heat oil in a deep skillet to 325°F (163°C).
Fry steaks for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels and serve with creamy gravy
