Italian Braised Short Ribs with Red Wine (Italy)
A rustic Italian dish with bold flavors.
Ingredients:
3 lbs beef short ribs
2 tbsp butter
2 large onions, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups red wine (Chianti or Sangiovese)
2 cups beef broth
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 tsp dried oregano
4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Melt butter in a large pot and brown the short ribs.
Remove ribs and sauté onions and garlic until fragrant.
Pour in red wine and balsamic vinegar, scraping up browned bits.
Return ribs to the pot and add beef broth, oregano, salt, and pepper.
Cover and simmer for 2.5-3 hours until tender.
Add potatoes in the last 40 minutes of cooking.
Serve with polenta or crusty bread.
